It’s Saturday! Let’s put a song πΆ in our hearts π for the Lord! π
πΆ I Will Sing of My Redeemer πΆ
Which is the earnest of our inheritance until the redemption of the purchased possession, unto the praise of his glory. Ephesians 1:14
Author: Phillip Paul Bliss (1838-1876)

About the Author:
Philip P. Bliss was a gifted hymn writer, composer, music teacher, and evangelist whose songs continue to inspire Christians around the world. Born in Clearfield County, Pennsylvania, he was converted to Christ at the age of twelve during a revival meeting. As a young man, Bliss worked on farms and in lumber camps while pursuing his education and developing his musical talents.
Bliss became a traveling music teacher and later moved to Chicago, where he conducted music institutes and composed Sunday school songs. Encouraged by evangelist Dwight L. Moody, he devoted his life to gospel music and evangelistic ministry. In 1874, he joined Major D. W. Whittle in revival work and co-published the widely used Gospel Hymns series with Ira D. Sankey.
Known for his generosity, Bliss donated the royalties from his gospel songs to support evangelistic work. Though his life was cut short at the age of thirty-eight in the tragic Ashtabula train disaster of 1876, his hymns and gospel songs have remained beloved throughout the English-speaking world and continue to point people to Christ.
Lyrics:
1. I will sing of my Redeemer
and his wondrous love to me;
on the cruel cross he suffered,
from the curse to set me free.
Sing, O sing of my Redeemer!
With his blood he purchased me;
on the cross he sealed my pardon,
paid the debt, and made me free.
2. I will tell the wondrous story,
how my lost estate to save,
in his boundless love and mercy,
he the ransom freely gave.
I will praise my dear Redeemer,
his triumphant power Iβll tell:
how the victory he gives me
over sin and death and hell.
3. I will sing of my Redeemer
and his heavenly love for me;
he from death to life has brought me,
Son of God, with him to be.
Sing, O sing of my Redeemer!
With his blood he purchased me;
on the cross he sealed my pardon,
paid the debt, and made me free.
