Homemade Scent Killer

Homemade Scent Killer for Hunting (Frugal DIY Recipe)

‘Tis the season for hunting in our household. My husband and children love to hunt, and while processing the meat is a story for another time, we truly enjoy what it provides for our family.

There are many expensive products on the market that claim to mask human scent and help hunters stay undetected. However, living frugally means we don’t always spend money on those products—especially when some we’ve tried didn’t even work as expected.

Because of that, I started making a simple homemade scent killer spray that my family uses when hunting.

DIY Homemade Scent Killer Spray

Ingredients:

Instructions:

  1. Combine all ingredients in a gallon jug (glass works best).
  2. Stir or gently mix until fully blended.
  3. Let the mixture sit for several days.
  4. Pour into a spray bottle for easy use in the field.

How We Use It

We spray this before and during hunting trips to help reduce human scent. It has also come in handy for cleaning hands after field dressing game.

Notes

  • Store in a cool, stable place while it sits.
  • Shake gently before use if needed.
  • Always use unscented soap to avoid interfering with the scent-masking effect.
