Walking Through Faith in Hard Times
December 28-29, 2022
Walking through faith in hard times is challenging, especially while living with a traumatic brain injury, chronic illness, fatigue, and uncertainty. In these journal entries from December of 2022, I share my personal experiences of faith in hard times, trusting God through physical pain, recovery from TBI, family responsibilities, and daily life challenges.

7:30 woke couple times in night needing to use restroom. A bit unstable on my feet – stumbled to bathroom holding onto furniture. A tune is playing in my head I don’t remember words.
At one point in night I remember praying, but fell asleep shortly after. My whole body is stiff and throbbing immensely. Shoulders, arms, and hands throbbing immensely as I’d I did intense workout y’day. Well, maybe not at a gym but everything I did do acted as workout to my body. Need to figure out pacing and limitations. My mind says I can still do things as if I were in my thirty’s yet my body doesn’t agree so much.
Scripture: Revelation 6-11; Matthew 11:28-30; Psalm 5:3
Reviewed pre-surgery information. Got me to thinking and getting nervous about surgery. Decided to write post to express my concern and ask for prayer.
Dezirae for driving lesson on the interstate. She’s been driving for a year now but not on interstate. Donated unused medicine back to Drs office.
Took detour to see Joe during his lunch break. Given a gift card for lunch at Subway. Went to dollar store. Home to rest.
Having trouble with my arms feeling weak and upper arms throbbing immensely.
Once home, started load of wash so I can use dryer to warm house up. Decided to work on blog while waiting. Able to post and schedule several posts for upcoming days. Finished writing devotional for January and Journaling Scripture plan and scheduled posting. A few days early. Yay!
During which began feeling chilling tingling sensation in center of back which slowed fanned out to cover entire back. Headache. Whole body cold. Feet freezing. Forearms starting to itch.
Dinner: Breakfast – eggs, waffles, and bacon.
Joe told kids to clean up after dinner so I can rest. Body riddled with pain and freezing.
Processing black eyed peas for canning. A one pound bag of dried black eyed peas equals four pints jars canned. Will use two of them for New Year’s Day lunch. .
Took me a couple hours of resting to finally warm up. .
Jordon came out to living room to share a song he was listening to. It’s called Scars in Heaven. https://open.spotify.com/track/2DlKfUn3oWkvnybIUjp3JQ?si=wvAJsh7KTP-1kCao0sGRSw
Asked him how he found that song. He said he was listening to music before falling asleep and it came on. Played it for whole family to hear. He was sitting on floor and began crying. I moved to sit on floor with him to comfort him and ended up crying too. Dezirae started crying also because she said she first heard that song shortly after Lawana (adopted Grandma) passed away. We played the song through a couple of times just to allow ourselves time to morn for the loss of a good friend. Thankful that he knew Christ and will be reunited one day. Will check in on Mrs. Coleson tomorrow.
