Two Journeys, One Heart: Healing Update | Jan. 7–8, 2023

The first days of January were difficult as I continued my healing journey after cancer and a lightning strike. I was still recovering from surgery and dealing with pain, itching, exhaustion, and new symptoms. I also had doctor appointments to arrange and daily responsibilities to manage.

Even in the midst of these struggles, God continued to show His faithfulness. He gave me strength through Scripture, prayer, family, and small answered prayers. These journal entries are part of my ongoing healing journey, reminding me that God is with me through difficult seasons and gives me grace and strength for each day.

January 7

8:00 rough night. Slept three hours then tossed and turned. Cannot sleep on left side because it hurts too much. Rt shoulder throbbing. Arms starting itching during night. I asked God to calm the itch until I got up.

Family going out soul wining this morning. I want to go, but decided to stay home so I can get better. I will pray for those going out.

Scripture: Proverbs 6-7; Genesis 22-24; John 1:50; Ephesians 5:1-2

Guess what!?

Papa (my Dad) came to visit me this morning. Grandma had to help him across the street to see me. He asked where Dad & kidds were at. I told him out soul winning. He stopped and prayed for them right then that God will help them find someone to lead to the Lord. I told him that I’d come visit him in a couple days and maybe we could play a game to help my brain get better. He agreed his brain needs to get better too. 😊.

Able to do couple chores around house. Finally got the Christmas decorations put up. Had the kids help me. Spent most of day working on things for church.

I’m tired and worn out. Hurting from head to toes. Arms itching again. Applied aloe couple times but they still itch. Took Benadryl. Still have sick odor about me. Slight headache. Hot flashes then chilly. Feet freezing.

cup of chai tea

Drank chai tea with oil of oregano this morning. This afternoon I drank orange juice with Diatomaceous Earth. Took pm vitamins plus Diflucan, ibuprofen, papaya enzymes and the Benadryl. Applied frankincense to surgery sites. Applied immune blend to bottoms of feet. Socks on feet. Under four layers of blankets to warm up.

I’m feeling a little better, but as day goes on I wear out quickly. Telling myself to be strong and courageous. Don’t quit because your blessings are around the corner.

January 8

7:30 rough night. Didn’t sleep well.

Applied Jergens lotion to arms, but about 5 minute’s later my arms started burning and itching. Had to get up to wash them off and itching ever since. Ugh. It’s going to be an emotional day because I’m overtired, overwhelmed, itching, and hurting. I’m tired of not feeling well. I need to get better. Going to attempt to go to church this morning at least.

Scripture: Amos 5:14-15; Genesis 25-26; Proverbs 11:24-25

Guys started to help me prep for lunch today. Opened the meat and it was spoiled rotten. Phew! Suggested we just get lunch somewhere. Joe checked freezer for meat. We don’t have much meat left so he agreed. Jordon took care of the spoiled meat for me.

Went to write tithe check for church today and realized I actually calculated wrong so I put the extra towards one of the projects we’re saving money for at church. Let Joe know what happened. His response was Praise the Lord!

Able to play piano for church today. I still messed up a little, but I hadn’t even played in a few weeks. I enjoyed serving the Lord today.
We met one of our church families at a
Local restaurant (Kains). Enjoyed the fellowship.
Home to rest. Researched about my left arm being numb but bruised feeling.

Learned from cancer discussion forum that it’s normal and can last from six months to years. One patient said that lumpectomy physical therapy helped with improvement. Makes me more thankful that my surgeon is trying to be proactive.

Played wholetones music to help me sleep. Slept good. Groggy upon waking. Decided to drink cup of cappuccino to give me some energy and help health wise.

Back at church. Dezirae helped me trim the rose bushes back and fertilize them. I was able to take bulletin board down to prep for the next one. Had to use needle nose pliers to pull straight pins.

I wonder if becoming hypersensitive to things post chemo treatment is associated and/or normal?

Thankful for
