Two Journeys, One Heart: Health Update (Feb 1-2, 2023)
Finding faith and healing during a season of chronic pain has a way of stripping life down to what truly matters. In these personal journal entries, I share an honest look at navigating severe bone pain, relentless itching, and doctor appointments while relying on faith, scripture, and God’s grace through my recovery journey. Even when a body feels broken, His quiet provisions show up—giving strength to endure every physical trial and choose Christ step by step.

February 1
1:10 woke in severe pain in bones in arms and hands. Used restroom. Laid in bed hoping to fall back to sleep but can’t. Both arms itch severely. Applied miracle II gel.
1:45 can’t stand the pain. Took two Tylenol.
1:50 I just want to moan and cry in pain, but I don’t want to wake Joe. Got up and sat in living room.
Scripture: Deuteronomy 6:5; Proverbs 1; Matthew 27-28;
2:20 starting to feel nauseous. Both arms itching moderately. Applied miracle II gel.
3:30 pain starting to ease going back to bed
5:48 woke thinking I overslept. Whole body hurts. Stuffy nose. Arms throbbing. Thirsty.
Drink cup of Essiac Tea. Hour later drink fresh vegetable juice. Make grits and eggs for breakfast.
Tasks: continue working on tax preparation, laundry, begin sorting through guys room to pack, put away, or get rid of items, take Dezirae to bank, load/unload dishwasher
A/C leaking bad again. Had to use carpet cleaner three times to suck up the water, put fan on floor to dry it.
12:48 need to rest and eat lunch before Dezirae gets home. Arms are throbbing immensely. Exhausted and hurting all over, but I feel good making a dent in guys room. Mom came over to help me as well.
Radiologist office calls to check on me. Wanting to know if I’ve made a final decision. I explained what’s going on. She suggests me not waiting and calling dermatologist. I told her I’m not moving forward until the rash heals.
Call dermatologist office and request an appointment. I’ve been dealing with itchy rash since end of December. It’s miserable. They have an opening tomorrow. Lord, please help me get answers and get better.
I’m in a lot of pain. Joe says he can tell by my face because my eyes have black circles around them and I look as if I should be in bed. Told him I probably should be.
The most broken make the best leaders.
9:30 belly and arms itchy fiercely. Look at belly to see about applying anti fungal cream. I have a large area on rt side that’s very red. It’s about the size of a dessert plate or saucer. Ask Joe to look at it. He thinks it’s due to my just itching. I don’t agree. Lord, I need Your healing hand. This itching is miserable. Arms itching fiercely. Apply calendula cream. I don’t even know why I try nothing seems to help.
February 2
Woke in great pain throughout body. Bad dreams.
Song playing in head is mixed up… yesterday seemed awful, but I, oh, I choose Christ.
I feel to see if Joe’s still there. He is. Urgency to use restroom. I check clock it’s 5:45. I inform Joe of time. His alarm didn’t sound and he overslept. He calls boss to inform him he will be late. Thanks me for waking him. Lord, please keep him safe.
Ears ringing. Neck hurts. Deep bone pain. Skin on belly itches. Arms itch. Sharp pins and needles tingling in arms and hands. I’m cold. All my muscles feel like tightly wounded rubber bands. Maybe I need to find a gentle stretching routine to help.
Scripture: 1 Corinthians 2:9; Proverbs 2; Exodus 13-15
I wonder if since I’m trying to detox if the bad flora is angry and causing symptoms to magnify???

Tasks: put away food dehydrated yesterday, prepare potatoes for dehydration today, Dermatology apt – hoping to get itchy rash resolved soon, continue preparing taxes,
Dermatologist says my rash is not fungal. Thinks it’s allergy to something I came in contact with. Given stronger ointment Rx, samples to ease dry skin. Only use gentle allergen free soaps, and take Zyrtec in morning and Benadryl at night. I have follow up appointment in two weeks.
Decided to go for some therapy at the thrift store. Found brand new suits with tags still attached. Messaged Bro Rick. Found present for my secret sister and bunch of other goodies. Wanted to stay longer, but my arms and legs begin feeling like they’re giving out. Need to go home.
Get in car and remember my prescription. Call pharmacy. It’s almost ready. Head that way. Get few grocery items needed at home too. Check what price would be if I didn’t have insurance. I about choke on the price! Immediately thank the Lord for His provisions. How can companies charge so much? I sure hope it works. Pray asking God to make it work. I’m so tired of itching.
Home for lunch and rest a while before heading out again. I need a day off. I’m exhausted and hurting.
Good night at church tonight. My Dad came to church. I really wasn’t expecting him because his health has been bad lately and he’s a big fall risk until he can’t get the surgery done.
Brain fried an my thinking and speech if weird. Speaking in
I’m so tired and hurting. Took night meds and vitamins. I’m freezing.

2. God’s provisions
3. Day off tomorrow even though I still have a Drs appointment
