Two Journeys, One Heart: Health Update (Jan 29-30, 2023)

Practicing faith through chronic illness doesn’t mean the physical struggle disappears—it means finding hope in the middle of it. Through heavy body aches, skin irritation, and deep fatigue, these past two days tested my endurance, but quiet blessings and God’s comfort kept me grounded.

January 29

6:00 woken by severe pain. I hurt all over. Pain level an 8. Water leaking from eyes. Joe tells me to take pain rx. Thinks I’ve done a lot the last few days, plus I walked more yesterday than I have in a long time. I willingly oblige.

Scripture: Matthew 20-23; Proverbs 29; Mark 9:35; Deuteronomy 12:28

Need to get up to print the bulletins for today. I just didn’t have the energy last night. It’s supposed to thunderstorm today.

Had fleeting thought about donating some of the slushies to another church to help them out. Asked Joe about it. He agreed. Contacted a friend that attends that church. She got excited. Agreed to meet up this afternoon.

Decided to invite Ireland’s to eat lunch with us. They accepted. Enjoyed the fellowship. Made plate for Bro. Billy.
Start feeling weird during lunch. Face feels flushed and I’m getting hot. Dezirae says my face is turning red.

Had guys help me load up the car with the slushies to give to DD. Met her around 1:30pm. She was glad to get them. Will divide between her co-op and her church. I told her that was okay.

Go to parsonage to take a nap. Still feeling hot. Turn fan on. Left arm hurting. It’s a bit swollen. Slept longer than planned. I’m exhausted. Could have slept longer.
A friend suggested that my skin itch could be linked to the candida overgrowth

Think I’ll start taking D.E. everyday to see if that’ll help. Drink hot cocoa with D.E. and coconut oil.

My left arm is throbbing and starting to tingle. It’s a bit more swollen. My head is itching from the wig. Still feeling hot. Exhausted. Whole body aches.
Right arm hurting now too.

Share food with my parents and sister. Holly gives me a check from her church. I say thank you. My left palm was itchy earlier today. Thank you, Lord.

Symptoms: headache, hot flashes, flushing, cold chills, whole body stiff and throbbing, joints hurt, left arm swollen and tingling, fingers tingling and throbbing both hands, random muscle spasms in legs, itchy skin (arms, legs, belly, chest, back), feet throbbing, tingling, stinging, and cold, exhausted, dry nose but stuffy feeling, periodic ringing in ears, trouble with coordination of hands while playing piano today, tripped and twisted ankle on way home from parents house

Thankful for
1. Able to share blessings with another local church
2. Able to share lunch with a church family
3. God’s goodness in providing funds
4. Joe had hold of my hand when I tripped or I would’ve went down

January 30

4:30 woke to bad headache and skin itching all over. Stuffy nose. Hot. Covers feel like lead. Lights bothersome.

Song:  ♫ All things work together for our good ♫

Fell back to sleep for ninety minutes until alarm sounded. I’m still tired. Fighting with covers and pillowcases during night. Arms are throbbing immensely.

Scripture: Proverbs 30; Matthew 24-25; Ephesians 4:2; Genesis 28:15

Tasks: wash clothes, plan meals, dinner in crock-pot, continue working on taxes, balance checkbook

Took break around 1pm for lunch. Got hungry. Not much that I can snack on in house. Ended up having a flare up. Rash is growing on skin. It’s covering crease just below stomach. It burns and itches.
End up washing arms with warm water and wash cloth. Apply clear calamine lotion.

I’m getting grumpy and easily irritated. Joe asks about adding water to the crock pot. I guess at him because it hurts my feelings.
Decided to take a detox bath with Epsom salt, baking soda, and lavender oil. Water turns gray looking. Soak for forty minutes. Show Joe the rash on my belly and notice that the rash is also in my belly button. Feel clean, but exhausted.
Joe says the water looked greenish. Maybe I should take Epsom salt detox bath more often. Need more Epsom salt first.

I cannot push myself anymore more. I’m so exhausted. Tired of not feeling well and itching. Lord, please help, because I fell like nothing is working. I’m about ready to quit taking any vitamins or supplements for a while. Please give me wisdom.

9:00 decided to go to bed with Joe. I’m exhausted. Apologize for being grouchy and irritated. Joe forgives me and say he will always forgive me. I tell him I still need to apologize. He agreed and understands.

Symptoms: headache, eyes blurry, periodic ringing in ears, left shoulder throbbing, arms and hands tingling, left arm aches, left upper arm underneath feels bruised and throbbing, low back aches, lethargic, feel drained, itchy arms, itchy belly, rash on belly and in navel, rash on arms – left arm worse, legs throbbing and aching deeply, feet tingling and hurting, easily distracted, irritable and grouchy.

Thankful for
1. Made progress in tax preparation
2. Dinner tasted okay even though I kind of burnt it
3. God’s promise of forgiveness if we ask
