We have a Heavenly Father that we can trust in that steadfastly leads us with His unseen hand through every obstacle we encounter in this challenging world.
The steps of a good man are ordered by the LORD: and he delighteth in his way. Though he fall, he shall not be utterly cast down: for the LORD upholdeth him with his hand. Psalms 37:23-24
Author: Albert J Sims (1884-1969)
Hymn History:
There is very little information on Albert Sims. However, Albert J. Sims (1884-1969) worked in the Crown Cotton Mill, was called to preach, taught music and wrote many, many hymns. He was an Elder in the Primitive Baptist Church who served many churches in northwest Georgia. “The Unseen Hand” was published by Rambo/Benson. He died in 1969.
A.J. Sims wrote this hymn about the unseen hand which he experienced in ways he could not see while going through “this world of woe.”
Lyrics:
1 There is a hand, unseen by me,
That leads through ways I cannot see;
While going through this world of woe,
This hand still leads me as I go.
Refrain:
I’m trusting in the unseen hand
That guides me through this weary land;
And some sweet day I’ll reach that strand,
Still guided by the unseen hand.
2 His hand has led through shadows drear,
And while it leads, I have no fear;
I know ’twill lead me to that home
Where sin and sorrow ne’er can come. [Refrain]
3 I long to see my Savior’s face
And sing the story “Saved by Grace,”
And there upon that golden strand,
I’ll praise Him for His guiding hand. [Refrain]
