6:48 rough night. Hard to get comfortable with rt side in much pain. Arms kept going numb. I woke at 2am feeling like I broke a fever and hurting immensely. Took 3 Tylenol.
I’m exhausted and hurting. Eyelids feel heavy. Neck hurts. Arms tingling. Hands throbbing. Low back throbbing intensely. Legs ache deeply and stiff. Feet tingling and throbbing. Lower abdominal pain. Muscles twitching randomly and periodically throughout body. Fell asleep listening to wholetones music which helped relax me.
Woke with the chorus on my mind:
♫I Made It Mine♫ by the Clark Family.
♫I made it mine
The story he was tellin’ of a Saviour sent from Heaven for mankind
I made it mine
I can’t rely on Grandpa’s faith to take me cross the line
By the blood it’s washed away I thank God for the day
I made it mine

12:00 Drs appointment for Chemotherapy class. Blood draw – 3 tubes each time (CMB, CBC, + extra tube just in case Dr needs to check something else). I really need to get the patient portal access fixed.
Whole left torso is tingling and chilly.
Class with nurse practitioner went well. Had good chat with one of the nurses about my lightning strike story.
In telling my lightning strike story to the nurses today, I earned the nickname “Lightning McQueen”. Lol. Chemotherapy class was interesting today. I already deal with a lot of the same side effects that can possibly come with chemo treatments. After a bit, the nurse just stated ok we’ve established that you’re just not normal. Lol.
Some common side effects of chemotherapy include losing your appetite, nausea, vomiting, bone pain, joint pain, diarrhea, constipation, mouth ulcers, hair loss, bruising or bleeding, a higher risk of infection, mood changes and tiredness.
I’ve established with the nurses that I already deal with a lot of these symptoms on a regular basis post lightning strike. One nurse suggested that I find a new primary doctor since my current one isn’t trying to help me.
My first chemotherapy session will be Friday, June 17th at 8:30 am. First session will be 4.5 hours. They’ll go slow first time because I’ve never had these drugs and need to watch how my body will react to it. They have a lot of protocols in place to help me stay healthy through the journey as well.
There are also precautions we will have to take for at least 48 hours after treatment days due to toxicity of the chemo.
7:20 my sister called to check on me. We had a good long talk. I enjoyed it.
Pain from the surgery has lessened some, but still hurts if I move certain ways that apply pressure to the area. It itches crazy. However, not being able to take my vitamins for 24 hours has caused much flare ups of several symptoms from the lightning strike. Ugh.
Muscles cramping, hypersensitivity touch (hair on neck feels like shards of glass digging into my skin, simple things are overly irritating making me to wat to lash out irrationally), periodic sharp stabbing pain randomly in body (foot, rt side, left leg, upper back). I’m exhausted. Brain hurts from information overload.
Thankful for….
- James made it to the states
- My sister called to check on me
- Family taking good care of me

I’m really tired and in a lot of pain. Think I’ll get dressed and go back to sleep a little while.
Slept for about an hour.
Took Dezirae to store to get items needed for camp, house needs, and chemo needs. Decided to get material to make my own port pillow. Forgot about buying stuffing. Asked Mom if she had any. Think I’ll work on it tomorrow afternoon.
Sewing a Port Pillow for Cancer Patients
Not feeling well. A bit dizzy today. Need to lay down a piece.
Decided to put up the zucchini and ended up making zucchini muffins. Canned homemade bone broth – it made 6 jars. Prepared dinner.
Tonight we celebrate Dezirae’s spiritual birthday because she leaves for camp early in the morning on her actual spiritual birthday.
I cheated on my diet today in order to eat strawberry shortcake.
Worked on bulletin for tomorrow. Had a little trouble with printing but managed to overcome the stubborn printer. Worked my finishing the monthly devotional. I printed it so I can go over it with Joe to get his opinion before posting.
The surgery sites are irritating me something awful today. It’s going to take some getting used to having the port just under my skin. When I turn my neck a certain way, it feels like the tubing pinches me. The top cut itches fiercely. Applied Frankincense oil around the wounds. I’m supposed to leave the steri strips on until first treatment, but if they keep itching this bad I’m not sure it’ll last.
Eve’s curse showed her ugly head today. Severe stomach and low back cramping. Enough I had to keep taking OTC pain relief. Nerves stinging. Muscles stiff and achy. Feet freezing even with socks on. Fingers tingling and cold. No fever.
