Two Journeys, One Heart: Cancer Update (Sept 1-3, 2022)

This cancer update covers September 1-3, 2022 and includes symptoms, doctor visits, and moments of encouragement.

September 1

5:00 exhausted and worn out. Trouble waking. Whole body hurting all over. Crust on corners of eyes. Hands stinging. Headache. Feel like I could sleep another 12 hours or so.

6:45 finally muster up enough strength to get up to be with Dezirae before she goes to school.

Proverbs 22:6; 2 Samuel 22:3-4; Ezekiel 18-19;

2 Samuel 22:4 I will call on the LORD, who is worthy to be praised: so shall I be saved from mine enemies.

It’s been difficult to swallow today. Feels like lumps down my esophagus. Think my gut is messed up. . https://www.guthealthproject.com/what-your-tongue-is-telling-you-about-your-digestion/

Worked on making letters for bulletin board. Learned a new trick to help keep my letters straight while putting them up. I’m excited to try it out. Mixing dough in bread maker for crescent rolls for dinner. Also worked on transferring pictures from my phone to the computer. Then filter through the pictures for making a display board for the PCC Recruiting meeting next Tuesday. I had over 10k pictures and a lot of them are duplicates. Frustrating. Don’t know why my phone does that. Ugh. Worked on it so long my eyes were starting to cross.

1:00 Joe called to check on me. Asked what I was doing. I told him. He told me to take a break and eat lunch. Told him I would. Ate leftovers, but nothing is appealing to me since my throat hurts due to the lumps.

September 2

6:00 rough night. Nerves stinging. Left shoulder throbbing. Sharp stabbing pain in rt hip. Headache. Hot. Uncomfortable.

Psalm 119:64; Exodus 20:21;

8:20 Recvd call that there was a hiccup with my insurance and the insurance company hasn’t approved the chemo treatment for this week. I still have blood work and Dr apt today.

Had apt downtown to drop off paper work. Had time so Joe decided to take me on a breakfast date to Chick-fil-A. It was a divine appointment. A lot of the workers enjoyed seeing Joe, asked how Jordon was and that they missed him and inquired about how he was doing, several of them asked how I was doing and let me know that they were praying for me. Miss Dee felt comfortable enough to ask questions and let me know a little about her brother’s cancer journey.

Dr appointment next. A volunteer, I forgot her name, was walking around chatting with the patients in the waiting room. She came over to me to let me know that I had a beautiful smile. We chatted for a while. Learned she had been in my place and was able to beat cancer two years ago. We enjoyed giving God the glory in the middle of the waiting room for the blessings in the midst of our trials.

BP 104/84, Pulse 99, weight 178. White blood counts are good. Red blood count is a little low – I’m mildly anemic. Had a very good visiting chatting with the NP. She asked a little more about my lightning strike. Gave suggestions on things I could change.

Inquired about physical therapy. Had referral within an hour.

Couple of friends text to check on me. KF brings by dinner. I’m appreciative. I don’t have the stamina to cook tonight. I’m starting to hurt a lot. Finally took Rx pain reliever about 9:00 p.m. It took a little bit of edge off.

9:39 going to bed. It hurts to sit in recliner. Maybe sleep will help.

Thankful for… 1. Hiccup with insurance. Chemo treatments delayed and I won’t be sick on my birthday 2. While the project board wasn’t the one I saw online, it does come with letters to help with design. 3. Enjoyed praising God with strangers for His goodness even in midst of storms. 4. I have a bed to sleep in 5. Breakfast date with my honey.

September 3

5:40 woken by severe pain throughout body. Used restroom. Thirty. Drank glass of water. Praying. Mind keeps wandering. Keep trying to work through prayer list in mind.

Isaiah 48:17; Ezekiel 22-23

Went to church with Joe and Dezirae. Joe decided to study for tomorrow and do small projects around church. Dezirae mowed back lawn. I chose to trim bushes in flower bed and weed a little. Ended up transplanting a few of the sprigs from the white flower bush. It’s low growing and may work better in the flower bed by the sign than what I’ve previously tried. Finished bulletin board by hanging the mirrors. Filed paperwork. Updated mission board. Got really excited that I needed to fill the tract rack. Just about need to order more tracts. Yay!

Once home, Joe cooked lunch. Got to talk with old friend for a bit. We’ll see them in November. I’m exhausted and feel a crash oncoming so need to go lie down a while. Playing wholetones music while lying down.

Slept for couple hours. Joe woke me at 3:30 or I probably would have slept longer.

Bulletins done before 7:00 pm. Yay. Able to relax a little before going to bed.

Thankful for… 1. Able to spend time with family 2. Had enough stamina to do a few things around church today. 3. Joe cooked lunch 4. Mom & Holly cooked dinner for Caleb’s birthday dinner

I’m starting to feel the aftereffects of the chores I did today. My whole body is throbbing immensely. Took Rx pain reliever with night vitamins.
