Sir, we would see Jesus – Heidi Cranston
In John 12, Jesus had recently raised Lazarus from the dead. Many people came wanting to see Lazarus and because of the miracle, many believed on Jesus.
Then in verses 20 and 21, certain Greeks came to Philip and told him they would like to see Jesus.
20 And there were certain Greeks among them that came up to worship at the feast:
21 The same came therefore to Philip, which was of Bethsaida of Galilee, and desired him, saying, Sir, we would see Jesus.
These Greeks did not come to see Lazarus. Although it was an amazing miracle that he was alive, he was still human. He had not been made perfect.
What these Greeks wanted to see was a man who was more than just a man. A man who was perfect, a man who was and is the Son of God!
Sometimes as I have gone through different difficulties of life, I felt like the Lord was saying to me, who is going to shine through you during this time- your flesh or Me?
I would think to myself, others are watching and they would really like to see Jesus.
Everyone, saved or unsaved, following God or backslidden would like to see Jesus whether they realize it or not.
I’ve thought of a few out of many instances where people really would just like to see Jesus.
That woman in your church who says unkind things to you. If you can see it as Jesus whispering to you, “Are you going to respond in the flesh or yield and let me have this one?”it will help you to respond in a gracious manner.
2. When your children are having a fussy
day or it seems like the day is long.
What the children really need to see
on those days is a mom who doesn’t
just let her exhausted grumpy mood
show, but instead with God’s help
exemplifies patience. A fruit of the
Spirit.
3. Even when we are just out with friends
having a good time our silent prayer
should be, “ Lord, help me to be a
blessing and encouragement to my
friend today.
If you just go in your flesh, you will
probably say something or do something
that won’t make her feel very
good. But if you go in the Spirit, the
Lord can help you to have an uplifting
time so that when you walk away, she
will think, that was just what I needed.
I could go on, but the bottom line is in our every day lives if we will strive to allow Jesus to shine through us, we will find ourselves being a blessing to others.
What people really want to see is Jesus, not more of the old flesh that is all around.
May we be yielded and willing to allow Jesus to shine through us.
