Last week (3/24), I had an appointment with my naturopath. She was pleased to see that my skin had a healthier pink tone and a more vibrant glow—definitely a positive sign!
Nerve Pain & Hot Flashes: Pain increases with activity; hot flashes can be intense. She’s giving me supplements to help.
Digestive Health: Muscle testing revealed tender spots; I’m not absorbing all nutrients, so more supplements added to support healing.
Insotol: Helps with anxiety and nerve repair—now taking daily.
Inositol: Benefits & Side Effects
Feeling encouraged as we adjust treatments to improve healing and overall wellness.
⚠️ Triger Warning: Discussion of chronic illness, nerve pain, and medical trauma.
Neurology Appointment Update (4/2):
My appointment didn’t go as well as I hoped, but I gained some answers and hard truths I wasn’t fully ready to hear. The doctor admitted that I’m his most challenging case, with the most severe injuries and lasting side effects from the lightning strike. He confirmed I was on the brink of death and that the lasting effects I continue to deal with are permanent. The recovery I’ve made so far is likely all I will fully achieve, and any further healing would be a miracle from God.
He explained that my chronic fatigue and limited exertion tolerance come from the constant stinging nerve pain, which weighs heavily on the entire body and leaves one completely drained.
He also addressed my lingering anger toward previous doctors. I hadn’t realized I was still holding onto it. With tears, I shared that I didn’t know I was still angry. After explaining why I refused to continue seeing my previous neurologist, he agreed my anger was understandable—and he said he would have felt the same.
The doctor was surprised that I no longer need a cane. I shared that AHIF (Alabama Head Injury Foundation) helped me get started with therapy and make the progress I have. While doctors can now only treat symptoms, my journey of healing and growth continues—and I know God can still work beyond what seems possible.
Since the naturopath’s supplements are new; doctor wants to wait a few months to see if it’s helping. He expressed some skepticism due to the lack of evidence, which I respect, and I’m grateful he’s willing to be patient and see how they work.
I left mentally overwhelmed, with a migraine from information overload, but also reflective. His matter-of-fact demeanor softened as I shared my story, reminding me that even in limitation, God’s grace is present.
I have important decisions ahead and will need God’s wisdom to guide me. I’m uncertain about trying the suggested medications to manage the symptoms, but I desire to find ways to lessen the intensity of the nerve pain so I can live more freely and continue serving the Lord fully.
Though this reality is difficult, I am learning to embrace the new me, trust God’s plan, and live as a testimony of His love, mercy, and faithfulness. Yet still, But God! 💚🧡
