Matters of the Heart
Matters of the Heart
1 Samuel 16:7 says “But the Lord said unto Samuel, Look not on his countenance, or on the height of his stature; because I have refused him: for the Lord seeth not as man seeth; for man looketh on the outward appearance, but the Lord looketh on the heart.”Â
God does not look at a person’s skin tone, background, clothing apparel, or social status. Rather, He looks at the thoughts and intents of the heart (Hebrews 4:12).
“This people draweth nigh unto me with their mouth, and honoureth me with their lips; but their heart is far from me.” Matthew 15:8
There are many in churches today who honor God with their mouths and actions, but their hearts are far from God. Their heart – their true self – is consumed by worldly concerns.
God’s Word says the God searches the heart.
“I the Lord search the heart, I try the reins, even to give every man according to his ways, and according to the fruit of his doings.” Jeremiah 17:10
We can rationalize the way we are living.  But God sees your true intentions.
The type of heart you have matters to God!
Keep thy heart with all diligence; for out of it are the issues of life. Proverbs 4:23
Every way of a man is right in his own eyes: but the Lord pondereth the hearts. Proverbs 21:2

Plan A by Robin Ogle
Happy January 10th!
We are 10 days in! Are you still on track with all of your “goals” for 2022??? This week’s devo is “Plan A” written by Robin Ogle! God always has a plan! Please take the time to read as Robin shares her heart with us today! Â
Plan A – Robin Ogle
Have you ever made a plan? Was there a time you organized an event and it didn’t happen according to your check list? Have you ever face a disappointment after anticipating something? In the middle of the day did circumstance cause you to instantly have to regroup, redirect, and rethink?
In the past I tackled these with a sigh and a “OK, let’s go to Plan B”. Sometimes I found by sunset I was looking at Plan W and wondering what I would do next. With each change I pulled up my boot straps, acknowledged this was how God wanted it, and forge ahead with a forced smile, and a deflated, frustrated, tired heart. “What’s gonna happen next? ”, became the big question.
Recently, my thinking was adjusted. MY PLAN, ideas, event, or schedule may have be altered- but I realized it was changed to line up with GOD’S PLAN A. Now when there is a snafu, my heart is joyful and excited that NOW the day is going as HE PLANNED. I can embrace the reconfigurations of my life because my great God is constantly revealing His Plan A. No longer do I drudge through Plan C,D, or E. With thankfulness, contentment and peace, I choose to dwell on Plan A.
Here are trues to meditate on in order to keep your “Plan A” spirit on track:
God meets our needs.
Philippians 4:13,19; Matthew 6:31-33
God does what’s best.
Jeremiah 29:11;Romans 8:26-34
God has control over every situation.
Psalm 103:19; Isaiah 14:27; Isaiah 46:9,10
God is trustworthy.
2 Timothy 2:13; Psalm 36:5; Numbers 23:19; Deuteronomy 31:8

Jesus – The Word
Jesus – The Word
John 1:1-3
In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. The same was in the beginning with God. All things were made by him; and without him was not any thing made that was made.
Just as our words explain our thoughts to others, Jesus was sent to the world to reveal the Father’s thoughts to us.
“In the beginning was the Word” refers to His co-eternal relationship with God in the past. His existence was in the beginning before the world began.
“And the Word was with God” speaks of His co-existence with God as a distinct person separate from God. He had a conscious personal existence separate from God but was also connected to Him.
“And the Word was God” testifies His co-equality with God. The distinctness was of Himself being God.
Hebrews 1:1-2
 God, who at sundry times and in divers manners spake in time past unto the fathers by the prophets, Hath in these last days spoken unto us by his Son, whom he hath appointed heir of all things, by whom also he made the worlds;
All things were created by Him. These verses explain His qualifications for the work of our redemption and salvation. In the beginning, Jesus was the Word, and in the end, He will be the Word. He is the beginning and the end (Revelation 22:12).
