LS Journal Entries July 11-17, 2021
July 11
600 woke to much pain. Arms are burning as if I did extensive workout and hurt my muscles. Entire back is pulsing throbbing. Legs ache deeply as if I walked 5 miles. Skin itchy and feels like something is crawling on it. Tired.

Feeling half way decent even though I’m tired and aching all over. Looking forward to going to church. Drinking diluted cup of coffee for energy and bowel help. Brain feels kind of off but not sure how to explain.
Noticed during SS that both my forearms are swollen. My rt one more prominent than left. Rt side throbbing too. Brain swirly. Not fully comprehending what SS teacher is saying. Tried to look up a definition of a word but phone wouldn’t acknowledge my touch at first. Ended up tapping it hard repeatedly before it’d work. Made spectacle of myself. Decided to roll with it and laugh at myself too. Exclaimed It wouldn’t work. I never claimed I was perfect. To which one replied, that’s why we love you. Lol
Having trouble playing piano. Brain swirly more, foggy, and uncoordinated. Left hand not cooperating and hitting wrong notes. Too many noises during offertory cause distraction and makes it difficult to concentrate on the music. My mind wants to stop to see what’s going on. Ugh.
Feet are getting cold. Need to cover them. Thankfully I found pair socks in my bag. Don’t want a migraine.
I’m getting so sleepy. Having a hard time keeping my eyes open.
Ugh! The meat – crockpot didn’t get plugged in. Have to back up and figure something else out. Googled how to cook meat in instant pot. Should take about 30 minutes. Easier than frying the pork loin on stove. Oven not working right. Baked biscuits in oven at 400° for 30 minutes still not done.
Frustrating.
230 need to lay down quickly feeling like I’m about to pass out. Lay down in nursery. Broken sleep. Not speaking correctly today. Speaking backwards and even completely messing up sayings.
420 Could sleep longer. Bad headache. Joe comes to check on me.
500 time for choir practice. Had to ask Joe several times to make sure I was understanding directions. It frustrates him and myself but we just turn it into jokes to make it light instead of heavy. Brain is swishy and fogging. Headache ensues.
1030 muscles in body randomly spasming. Muscles spasming regularly in left foot. I’ll jerk my foot to stop it for moment but it comes back. Joe tried massaging foot and that didn’t work. Skin itchy. Sinuses congested.
July 12
230a woke to use restroom. Had difficulty with balance walking to bathroom. Muscles still randomly spasming thru body.
5:30a Joe gave me kiss before leaving for work as he usually does. Mind trying to figure out what day it was…took a little bit but figured it out.
700a I’m so exhausted. Whole body hurts. Sinuses congested. Vision a bit blurry. Eyes watery. Chilly. Nerves stinging. Had strange dream… Lights bothersome. Tired. Ears ringing.
Looking up information about my tongue and allergies. Came across this article about benefits of Vitamin C.

715 thunderstorms today. Did pretty good until few minutes ago when back went into spasms. Can hardly move right now.
1110 muscle spasms/cramping in back lasted over an hour. Haven’t been that bad in long time. I have massive pounding headache. Severe sinus pressure and congestion. Took 3k mg vitamin C, Echinacea, zinc, D, Tylenol sinus, night meds, and Excedrin migraine. Lights bothersome. Sound hurts my head. Laying head on pillow hurts.
Whole body throbbing in pain. Lower left leg tourniquet tightening feeling with some tingling and partial numbness to feet
July 13
554 headache has eased, but sinuses still very congested. Eyes watery. Stomach muscles spasming. whole body stiff and achy. A little naceous. Took 1/2 benadryl and nasal spray (1 squirt each nostril). Itchy all over. Eyes hurts – feels like I was punched in the face.
Looked up withdrawal symptoms of Zyrtec. Info is a bit concerning. Withdrawal causes pruritus

Definitely would explain the extra itchiness lately. Increasing my vitamin C for a bit.
Indigestion trying to set in with nauseousness. Sucking on ginger chew. Potent little candies but they sure do the trick most times.

Worked on cleaning up Jordon’s room on Jakob’s side. Worked more on copying receipts for audit.
Need to rest a while so I’ll be okay for Ladies Bible Study tonight. Way I’m feeling right now I wouldn’t make it. Exhausted and hurting.

400 I’m not feeling well. Shaky all over feeling. Sinuses congested. Slight headache. Exhausted.
Ladies Bible Study went well. Ladies interactive and enjoyed fellowship.
I’m exhausted. Hurt all over. Sinuses severely congested and trouble breathing. Slight bloody nose. Skin itches everywhere. Headache. Rt hip throbbing. Legs burning. Feet throbbing.
Applied Vick’s rub to bottoms of feet and chest. Night meds taken. Added Echinacea and C.
July 14
700 up and down all night. Woken by extreme stabbing pain in center of chest clear thru to back. It’s hurts to move.
Mustard enough energy to force myself to get the heating pad warmed up in microwave. Took Echinacea, zinc, C, D, & Advil. Made myself cup of tea and back to bed. Sneezing hurts. Sick. No fever. Temp 98.3. BP 132/88 hr 73.
Top number little high but not too concerning. Been completely off the propranolol for three days now. Joe suggested I keep close eye on my bp for little while.
Advil and heat helped ease pain some. Whole body stinging pain. Bad headache. Think I’ll try to get some sleep now.

Joe come home to take me to Drs bc chest still hurting. BP 126/80 W-205 (Yay. I’m down 15 lbs since last visit in March). EKG looks good. Dr says since I’m still hurting thru to chest they’re sending me to ER for testing to make sure it’s not a heart attack. Ugh! Not how I wanted to spend my day.
105pm At ER…BP 123/93 temp 98.2 ordering EKG, blood work, x-ray
4:20pm still waiting in ER waiting room to be seen. I’d rather have stayed home. Can’t get comfortable in a wheelchair. Ugh .
Saw Dr before nurse. He’s never personally met a lightning survivor, but his wife had a family member that was struck. He thinks lightning is different here than in OK. It strikes more here. He was very interested in the how, what, where, etc of my lightning strike. Asked what I incurred from it. Told him so far TBI, nerve damage, muscoskeletal issues, balance issues. He said that normally they’re told to check the heart, liver, and kidneys. He’s heard of it causing heart and muscoskeletal issues but never a TBI. Told him most doctors don’t know how to treat LS survivors because our injuries are so diverse. Told him about the Lightning strike support group on Facebook. He said that’s good to know. I told him that there was one Dr that had studied it out and treated survivors but she has retired. He asked where she practiced and her name. I had a brain bleep and could only remember Cooper. He said he would definitely have to study it out further. All tests came back negative/normal. No indication of heart attack or heart damage. He gave me baby aspirin and Ultram in hospital and sent home scripts for both. I do have tenderness in breast bone and surrounding areas.
Wants me to follow up with a cardiologist.

1037 pain in chest still quite strong. Moving makes it hurt more. Praying I fall asleep soon. General achy pain through body. Muscles randomly spasming thru body. Thirsty. Hands ache.
Plus side my sinus congestion has started easing. Slight headache.
July 15
545 rough night. Trouble sleeping even though I was exhausted. Pain kept me awake. during the tossing and turning my sternum popped a few times which caused pain to start easing ever so slightly. Chest very tender.
Muscles randomly spasming thru body. Whole body stiff and achy. Stinging needle pain in low back and legs. Toes tingly. Low back throbbing. Rt hip aches. Hands swollen and aching.
Song: All night the song filling mind was Big Enough. When I wake, tune in head is A Million Dreams. Strange.
Feeling weak and lethargic today.

1030 my back started spasming and cramping again. Joe sent me to bed. I gladly obliged. Jordon making cup a sleepy time tea. Dezirae got me the C, D, Echinacea, and zinc
Can’t believe my baby girl is going to try to get her permit tomorrow morning . I’m not ready. Oh, no,! I forgot to gather needed info. Better do than before I fall asleep. Had Dezirae help me.
July 16
1225so much for falling asleep soon. Just about out and Joe’s hand dropped as he dozed off hitting me in the head. It scared me. Ugh.
630 finally dosed off around 1:30 only to wake up at 4:30 and 6:30.
Dezirae and Joe off for her to take her permit test.
While body stiff and achy. Periodic sharp stabbing pain in chest if I move a certain way. Back of left heel feels bruised and hurts. Sinuses irritated. Feel a little stuffy but not congested. Nose tingles like it wants to sneeze. Hands swollen and achy. Eyes watery. Skin sensitive and itchy. Rt hip throbbing. Low back throbbing. Muscles spasming randomly in legs.

848 Yay! She passed.
Working on getting ready to mail additional requested info to State.
1030 Joe asked me a question about the purified water. I didn’t understand what he was asking. Kept asking him to repeat. It just irritated him. We ended up loudly discussing topic. Told him he needed to have more compassion. Ugh. I’m not arguing.
1130 envelope sealed and postage paid. Need to take to post office to get receipt showing it was mailed today. I feel relieved that part is done. Now to pray for God’s favor and things proceed without hiccups.
Need to rest a little bit first. Exhausted. Feet cold. Put socks on. It’s thunderstorming here. Nerves are amuck. Brain is hurting and tired.
100 need to go lay down. Feel like I’m going to pass out
230 sharp stabbing pains in center of chest beginning again. Took pain rx.
300 yawned and rt side face and chin cramping bad
330 went out to eat to celebrate Dezirae getting her learner’s permit today. While at restaurant, I attempted to reach down to get my purse off the floor. Doing so caused my rt side to cramp and spasm horribly. I moaned in pain. I’m sure the pain could been seen on my face too. Stopped to get a few groceries on way home.
500 closed eyes in chair for while. I’m so tired. Holly came over to get help with Tara’s transcript.
800 feel like I’m going to pass out again. Go lay down for a bit until it eased. Actually fall asleep for 45 minutes or so.
905 decided to work on blog for little bit. Able to finish up May 2019. Slowly I’m getting journal entries uploaded. Just wish I could figure out how to maneuver the website better.
1030 back to bed for the night. I’m exhausted. Rt ear hurts. Neck hurts. Slight headache. Sinuses congested. Hands ache. Low back and rt hip throbbing. Center of chest sharp pain. Shoulders throbbing. Bad taste in mouth. Legs ache. Feet freezing. Lethargic. Nose stings. I’ve developed a cough. Tongue is coated white with lessions again. Swallowing is difficult and rt side throat hurts. Gassy. Muscles spasming randomly in legs.
Took pm meds plus Benadryl, C, D, Echinacea, zinc, and 4 Advil. Sucking on ginger chew.
July 17
720 Dad messaged us to pray for Tara. Mom & Holly had to take Tara to ER. Her side in much pain. It might be her appendix.
Actually slept decent last night. Scared awake by Jordon. Forgot to set alarm to get up with him. He came to say goodbye before leaving for his ACT test. Prayed with him to do well.
I’m still very tired. Could fall back to sleep. Joe watching weather…looks like lots of rain heading our way. May have to cancel soul winning this morning. Think we need to rethink our strategy.
