The last few weeks have been a bit crazy round here. Three weeks ago I saw my obgyn doctor due to finding a lump on my left breast. I was a bit nervous as typically I’m a very private person. The doctor was very cordial and intrigued about my lightning strike. When she checked out my lump, she was immediately concerned. It measured 10cm in the office. Doctor said I have a few other issues but the lump takes precedent over everything else. She told me the size was very worrisome. She asked the nurse to order a diagnostic mammogram stat. Nurse was able to get me scheduled for one the next week.
When I went home that day, I immediately began researching for natural remedies to help reduce the cyst. I began taking 1,000mg of niacin non-flushing and 1,000mg if Vitamin C three times a day. I gradually increased the C to 2,000mg each time.
When I went for the mammogram, they saw something and decided to also do an ultrasound. During the ultrasound, it was discovered that also had a swollen lymph node under my arm. I saw the nurse measure the cyst on screen as 5cm.
I continued to take the niacin and Vitamin C.
I immediately thanked God for shrinking the cyst. I don’t recall who said it but I was again told that the size of the cyst and the swollen lymph node was worrisome. I was informed that the Doctor ordered a biopsy the following week.
On Wednesday, March 30, 2922, the biopsy went good as could be expected. I had a few hiccups trying to get checked in, but okay.
Able to talk about lightning strike with nurses and Dr. Told them that recovery has been slow and interesting. Able to tell them about the lightning strike and electric shock survivors support group on Facebook. They said that was good to know. One nurse said a relative of hers was struck by lightning and was a vegetable until he died. She said she was glad that I survived and able to talk about it. She said a lot of my symptoms mimicked stroke symptoms.
Two biopsys – one of cyst and one of lymph node. Dr had to do multiple shots of lidocaine because I could still feel the needle. It hurt! One time it hurt so bad I flinched. Dr surprised I could still feel it. I think I ended up with about 6 shots total.
Nurses kept asking if I was nervous. Told them no because I had one done 5 years ago on other side. They said oh. One nurse looked like she was nervous so I kept reassuring her that she was doing fine and everything would be okay. I kept cracking jokes with the Dr.
Dr thanked me for having a pleasant disposition and apologized for torturing me. I told him all was good. 😊
Yesterday, March 31, 2022, I received the preliminary results of my biopsy. I have breast cancer. I won’t know full extent or what the treatment plan is until I meet with the breast surgeon on April 15th. God’s got this. Prayers appreciated.
Our family has a lot of life activities over the next several months (graduation, wedding, etc.). I need strength to be there for my family. May God be glorified through it all.
God allowed me to survive being struck by lightning 5 years ago and I know if it be His will together we can conquer this as well.
Lamentations 3:22-23 – It is of the LORD’s mercies that we are not consumed, because his compassions fail not. They are new every morning: great is thy faithfulness.
