God says you are Special! – Paula St Armour

God says you are Special!

Deu 7:6 – For thou art an holy people unto the LORD thy God: the LORD thy God hath chosen thee to be a special people unto himself, above all people that are upon the face of the earth.

In the Bible the word special is only used two times. Once in the New Testament in reference to the miracles of Paul, and once in the Old Testament in the verse we just read.

There are an estimated 7.9 billion people on earth, But God says we are special.

Why are we special?

Webster’s dictionary defines special as the following:

special

1: distinguished by some unusual quality

2: held in particular esteem

3: readily distinguishable from others of the same category : being other than the usual

4: designed for a particular purpose or occasion

Those definitions sound like a description of a Christian. Read again.

So let’s break them down.

1: distinguished by some unusual quality

Duet 7:6

We are special because we are saved. We get to have a miraculous life in Heaven with Him.

2: held in particular esteem

Being a Christian means more than just saying “I Believe”.

Mark 16:15 “go ye into all the world and preach the gospel to every creature”

Once we are saved we are supposed to further the gospel of Christ, by bringing others to Him. God expects us to be a witness to our fellow Christians and to the world. Because we are special to God, He hears us when we pray, more than he hears the unsaved. Jesus goes to God for us to get us in the front of the line because we are a Special people.

3: readily distinguishable from others of the same category : being other than the usual

In Genesis 1:27 God said he made man in his image

So every human being is “the same” in that aspect, but because we are special we are to be set-apart.

In 2 Corinthians 6:17 God asks the Christian’s to come out of the world and be Separate… set-apart. The people of the world should be able to look at us and see that we are not like them. How we act, how we dress, what we listen to, what we read, what we do, and what we say.

This is not only to bring ourselves closer to God, but to bring others to Him. You can’t only be a Christian when you are outside of your house and live like the world when you are at home. You are supposed to be Special all the time. You might be the only version of God that your family, friends, and coworkers see. How are you portraying Jesus to them?

4: designed for a particular purpose or occasion

God has a reason he put you on this earth. He reveals that to you in His time. I am reminded of Esther, she was among many who were put up to be queen, but God allowed her to win, to be where she needed to be, to save her people. God may give someone the job of being a missionsary, the job of pastor, bus worker, soulwinner… each job is specifically designed for you and your abilities. What you can do, someone else probably can’t do.

You are most special because God Loves You.
